(rG) контролирует синтез репрессора (R), который ингибирует действие гена-оператора (oG) и т. обр. «включает» оперон. Белок, кодируемый геном-регулятором regulator gene.* * *Репрессор — мультимерный (многомерный) белок, кодируемый регуляторным геном (см. Ген регуляторный), который связывается с высокой точностью с соответствующим геном-оператором (см. Оператор). Связанный Р. блокирует движение РНК-полимеразного комплекса (см. РНК-полимераза) вдоль промотора и предотвращает инициацию синтеза РНК. Сродство Р. к оператору модифицируется небольшой молекулой эффектором. Напр., т. н. индьюсеры (см. Индуктор) связываются с репрессорными белками и изменяют их конформацию так, что они не могут прочно связываться с оператором, а т. н. корепрессоры действуют наоборот.Англо-русский толковый словарь генетических терминов > repressor
